We met at a lingerie photo shoot and the rest has been history. Our bestie love story is that we love our name, serious coffee addicts, know how to have a good time (sometimes too good), and ultimately have the same taste in alcohol and not in men.
In all seriousness, we love being able to call the shots in our business. We started the Ashley Show because we saw something that was lacking in the Queen City. We noticed that a lot of the same damn businesses were being promoted and highlighted in our industry (fashion, women’s health and lifestyle) within the popular publications and the start-up,smaller businesses predominately female owned, the underdogs, weren’t getting credit for their had earned work. We want to change that.
We want to know that our female entreprenueress, bossbabes, girlbosses, ladyboss, whatever you want to call it, matters and that you’re work isn’t being overlooked.
Yeah, the show is called The Ashley Show, it’s everything but us.
Serial entrepreneuress. When I was 27, I quit my job cold-turkey, well really gave them about a 4 months notice constantly emphasizing that they weren’t providing me what I needed to successful do my job and that I was at $10/hr for almost two years with no raise even with a 76% increase in leads and sales, but nonetheless – that fateful Monday morning I said, fuck it, collected what was mine, threw up a few gansta peace signs and walked home. Never looked back.
Maybe I should’ve planned that better….two months later, I was homeless. Literally. Living out of a suitcase with a two bedroom apartment in storage. Crashing in friend’s couches, staying at motels, and finally at a good friends for about two months before getting a house. Even homeless, I worked my ass off. I never blamed anyone for the position I was in. I never settled, never reached out for food stamps, never opted for unemployment (well I quit so I really couldn’t) – I started over.
No pity, feel sorry story – I did what I needed to do. I had to quit that job. I had to fall flat on my face. I had to lose my car. My liscenes. I had to EXPERIENCE that crap to get to where I am today. The problem with so many young women is that they don’t have a backbone. When it gets too hard, we cry and say, “I’ll just get a job”. Do you know what a job is?
J – JUST O – OVER B- BROKE
ain’t nobody got time for that. You’re never going to grow if you continue to give to someone else dream. Don’t get me wrong, get a job to pay your bills – but make sure you have a side job, YOUR job – focus on your career goals. Focus on you. 2016 is my selfish year – it should be yours too.
Well it should be obvious by now that the name to call me is ASHLEY! That alone explains so much of who I am. I am a Southern Belle born and raised through a through. I bleed for the Carolina team.. the real Carolina… GO COCKS! ( See I can say that). I am on a journey to find my happy again.. Just hit a milestone of turning the BIG 3-0, going blonde, raising a six year old– going on sixteen, and doing it all while maintaining a full-time job (Yep i said that too), as well as a full-time modeling career, and non-profit, and part time Professional Dance/ Cheerleader…. Now wait for it…. DRUM ROLL.. AND Co- Creator of The Ashley Show.. the reason I am here spreading my love through out the QC.
You could say I am a jack of all trades, creative at heart, and born a Cappie (in other words Born to party) New Years Baby. Loyal to the core, funny when I want to be, zero F’s given along the way.. Basically as Sammy from Jersey Shore put it, but add the Southern “Bless Your Heart to it” The Absolute Sweetest Piece of Apple Pie you will ever meet this side of the Mason Dixon Line… until you cross that line… then it’s the Copper Head your granddaddy warned you about while playing to close to the water.
I am excited to take you on this “Wing it Like Eyeliner” discovery through Charlotte discussing hot button topics, making fun of myself, and giving you all that Sass you’ve only heard about. Turn that glass upside down and let the good times Roll!
